Afterwards, at 1:30 pm, we will start a 4-hour tour of the city. We will start at the Convent of Santo Domingo - Qoricancha and then head to the archaeological sites located on the outskirts of the city of Cusco, such as Sacsayhuaman, Q'enqo, Pukapukara and Tambomachay. The day will conclude with your transfer back to the hotel in the evening.
Sacred Valley
Sacred Valley of the Incas
We will begin our exploration of the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Chinchero, where we will participate in a traditional weaving workshop. We will witness an outstanding exhibition of textile handicrafts and observe up close how the local inhabitants work in these ancestral techniques. Afterwards, we will embark on a guided tour of the unconventional circuit of Maras Moray, a unique archaeological site. The huge circular depressions in the surface of the ground were thought to be an Inca agricultural research center.
We will then drive to the salt mines, located 7 km from Moray, passing through the picturesque Spanish village of Maras. In the afternoon, we will explore the village of Ollantaytambo and the Inca archaeological site which, after 500 years, remains in surprisingly good condition. From there, we will board the train to Aguas Calientes for the night.
Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Machu Picchu Wonder of the World
After an early breakfast, we will start the day by heading to the bus station to Machu Picchu. There, you will meet your guide at the entrance to begin a 2-hour guided tour, followed by free time to explore on your own. Those who have previously booked Huayna Picchu or the Mountain will be taken to the entrance to embark on an exceptional ascent of this Inca wonder.
In the afternoon, we will board a train from Aguas Calientes at 6:20 p.m. to Ollantaytambo. It is important to be at the Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu town station at least 30 minutes in advance. In Ollantaytambo, a driver will be waiting just outside the station exit to take you back to Cusco by bus.
It is worth noting that there is the possibility to spend an additional night in Machu Picchu village for an additional cost of $30, and return the next day (especially useful for those who wish to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for an additional cost of $30.00 USD).
End of tour
You can enjoy breakfast at your hotel before a driver transports you to the airport for your departure flight or bus station as you head to your next destination.
