Santa Rosa - Maranpata - Choquequirao
Ascent to the Lost City of Choquequirao
"After a delicious breakfast, get ready to live one of the most exciting days of our adventure. We will ascend to the top of the mountain, reaching Marampata (3000 m.a.s.l.), where a second breakfast awaits us to recharge our batteries. Then, we will climb for two more hours to the mystical lost city of Choquequirao (3350 m.a.s.l.), where we will enjoy lunch and have the opportunity to rest and contemplate a beautiful sunset from our comfortable tents.
This ancient Inca city, built in the cloud forest and abandoned during the conquest of Peru, may have been a crucial control point to access Vilcabamba, the last Inca capital in the 16th century. Our camp is strategically located next to this fascinating archaeological site, giving us the freedom to explore these enigmatic places at our own pace and relax whenever we wish."
